Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of the terms

Welcome to Gioca STEM. By using the website at giocastem.it (the "Platform"), run by the owner named in section 15, you accept these Terms of Service. If you do not accept them, please do not use the Platform.

2. Description of the service

Gioca STEM is a publishing project made up of a series of printed books for children and schools and a companion website, which accompanies them with materials, fact cards, interactive tools and games.

The Platform has two parts:

• a reserved area, available with an account and with the code printed in the books that include one, with the teaching materials for those books;
• public sections, such as the fact cards and games that the QR codes printed in the books lead to, open to everyone without signing up.

3. Nature of the service and relationship with the books

The product you buy is the book. The Platform is a companion digital service, provided free of charge for the content connected to the books.

For books that include an activation code, access to the reserved-area materials for that book is included in the purchase. The public sections are free and open to anyone, including people who have not bought the book.

The Platform may include further sections, features or content that are reserved or paid, and are not covered by the access granted by a book’s code.

Every book is designed to be used without the Platform as well: the instructions, learning goals and activities are fully contained in the book.

Access to the free content connected to the books has no fixed duration, but it is not a perpetual right: the owner may change how it is provided or discontinue the service as set out in section 8.

4. Registration and account

The public sections do not require signing up. To access the reserved area you need to create an account, and you must be of legal age to sign up: minors use the reserved area together with the adult who owns the account. You agree to:

• provide accurate, complete and up-to-date information when signing up;
• keep your password secure, and be responsible for all activity carried out with your account;
• report any unauthorized use of your account right away.

5. Access codes

Access to the reserved area requires a valid activation code, printed in the books that include one. Each code is linked to a single account. Codes are personal and not transferable. Misuse or unauthorized sharing of codes may lead to the account being suspended without notice.

6. Acceptable use

You agree to use the Platform for legitimate educational purposes. The public sections are also designed for children, preferably together with an adult; the reserved area is available to people who have a book’s code. You may not:

• break any applicable law or regulation;
• interfere with the operation of the Platform;
• try to access unauthorized areas of the system;
• upload offensive, illegal or inappropriate content;
• use the Platform for unauthorized commercial purposes;
• share your login details with others;
• systematically download or redistribute the Platform’s content.

7. Intellectual property

All content on the Platform and in the books of the Gioca STEM series, including the public sections (texts, illustrations, images, videos, logos, audio, games and teaching materials), is protected by copyright and other intellectual property rights. The materials may be used only for personal educational purposes and in schools. Reproducing, distributing, publishing online or modifying the content without written permission is not allowed.

8. Availability and discontinuation of the service

The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee that the service will always be available, uninterrupted or free of errors. The owner reserves the right to change, suspend or discontinue the Platform, in whole or in part, at any time and without notice.

If the service is permanently discontinued, the owner will, where possible, notify registered users reasonably in advance. Discontinuing the Platform is not a breach of contract and does not give the right to any refund, compensation or indemnity, since the product bought is the book and the Platform is provided as a free companion service.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, the owner is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special or consequential damage arising from the use of, or inability to use, the Platform, including, for example, loss of data, interruption of the service or inability to access digital content.

10. External links

The Platform contains links to third-party websites, for example the pages of the books and recommended products on Amazon, or social media profiles. The owner is not responsible for the content and terms of those websites.

11. Personal data

Personal data is processed in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and applicable Italian law. The public sections use no tracking cookies and do not profile their readers. For details, see the Privacy Policy.

12. Changes to the terms

The owner reserves the right to change these Terms of Service at any time. Changes are communicated by publishing them on the Platform. Continuing to use the service after the changes are published means accepting them.

13. Suspension and closure of the account

The owner reserves the right to suspend or close a user’s account if these terms are breached, without notice and without liability.

14. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms of Service are governed by Italian law. Any dispute falls under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Rome, without prejudice to the rights granted to consumers by law.
